English Partners Desk
A complete restoration of both desk and leather top. This desk came to us in pieces.

This an example of a complete restoration of a 19th Century English Partners Desk.

Here we have a view of the top right drawer which had its dove tail joints ripped apart and the lock as well.

This is a view of the other side where the tails of the dove tail joint are missing.

This view shows the lock that was torn off to try to open a locked drawer. A similar antique lock was reset as well.

The dove tail joints are hand cut, test fitted, glued and clamped.

In this view we are sampling which leathers might fit the best.

Here we decide on a leather which was recuperated from a mid 19th Century Spanish dining chair. We placed paper templates over the area of the leather sample that best matches the leather top.

Here we show a cut out of the paper template, the leather sample for the corner of the leather top. We also re-apply the embossed edging.

This is the initial coloring of the corner piece. We later complete the touch up process.

Here is a view of the completed leather top. A very nice transformation with out replacing the leather and keeping more with the period of the piece.
